Selby Project

 

Set amongst untouched native bushland alongside Monbulk Creek, the Selby Project was designed to immerse its occupants in the surrounding landscape. Expansive glazing throughout the home frames uninterrupted forest views while drawing natural light deep into the living spaces.

 

At the heart of the home is a generous open-plan family room — a warm and connected space designed for everyday living and where the family spends most of their time together. Originally configured with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, the home also incorporates a large loft conversion, creating two additional bedrooms within the roof space.

 

Built with energy efficiency in mind, the home incorporates battery storage and heat pump hot water systems to reduce environmental impact and improve long-term performance.

 

Building within untouched native bushland came with planning challenges, with more than three years spent navigating approvals before construction could begin. In the end, the very constraints that made the project difficult became its greatest strength — delivering a home immersed in one of the most beautiful natural settings imaginable.
