Gardenvale Renewal

 

A thoughtful balance of heritage preservation and contemporary living, the Gardenvale project transformed a century-old Californian Bungalow into a comfortable, energy-efficient family home while respecting its architectural character.

 

The original solid brick façade was carefully restored and retained, preserving the home’s street presence and historical significance. To the rear, a striking L-shaped extension introduced new living spaces, two additional bedrooms and a bathroom, seamlessly connecting old and new architecture.

 

Performance was equally important. The new construction incorporates 140mm insulated wall framing, high-performance floor and ceiling insulation, and a polished concrete floor built over an insulated slab to significantly improve year-round comfort and energy efficiency.

 

Perhaps the greatest success of this project was the collaboration between client, architect, interior designer and builder. Comprehensive documentation and careful planning allowed every detail to be delivered with confidence, resulting in a home completed to an exceptional standard, on time and within budget. It is a perfect example of how thoughtful design and detailed documentation create a smoother building experience and a better outcome for everyone involved.
